Year 3 Blog

Year 3 were visited by a Greek hero named Petereus who enthralled us with tales of his adventurous life. The children were also able to take part in activities that were around in Ancient Greece like fishing,  weaving and grinding corn. They also wrote their names using the greek alphabet.

Dear parents/carers Year 3 children will be part of the crowd scene in this year’s Christmas concert next Wednesday. It would really help if you could provide them with either a tea towel to wear on their head (boys) or a  scarf to wrap around their head and shoulders (girls). Tea towels need to either be a plain colour or with  a simple check or stripe - see below. The scarf needs to be a cloth one rather than a knitted one like  the images below. Year 3 and the Allstars  enjoyed their visit to the Sea Life Centre to research predators for their new topic. They also wanted to find out the purpose of Sea Life Centres for the balanced argument they are going to write entitled 'Should animals be kept in captivity?'

Year 3 are showing that it is okay to be different by wearing odd socks to school. Odd Sock Day kicked off this year's Anti-bullying Week.  Thanks to everyone who took part.

This afternoon children in year 3 have been thinking about how to keep safe online. In groups the children have made E Safety board games. Here are some photos of the groups playing their games. 

This week children in year 3 have been making a Beaker folk clay coil pot. It was a fun packed afternoon and the children loved getting messy making their clay pots. They first designed their pot deciding on the shape, size and pattern and then went on to making the clay pot.

In year 3 we are learning how to subtract using column method. We have been playing a game to help us with exchanging and regrouping. The children enjoyed the game so much they wanted to keep playing all lesson.
